"Can’t put into words how incredible The Cuckoo's Retreat is. I took my partner here for his birthday and he was in shock at how perfect it was. Keryn was amazing with great communication and clear instructions about how to check in and out. The welcome booklet she provides has great choices for food and beaches. You can also tell she puts a lot of pride in what she does with the beautiful interior design and bespoke artwork - the bean bag was our favourite addition, it’s so comfy! I also paid an extra £25 to have the place decorated for his birthday which added such a lovely, welcoming touch to the place, and it made the stay feel even more special. He was very happy with it so it’s definitely worth it. It’s also in such a beautiful location with beaches only 20-30 mins away and just a 10 minute walk into town with plenty of cafes and restaurants. It's even walking distance the to bus and train station if you don't have a car. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a nice relaxing break! The Cuckoo's Retreat is just 20 minutes from either coast in the quiet leafy suburbs of Kenwyn, Truro, 10 minutes walk from the city centre, the Hall for Cornwall, the stunning Idless Woods and surrounding countryside. The Cuckoo's Retreat is an ideal location for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer and great for pets.
You won't be disappointed, it's the perfect setting to celebrate Anniversaries, Birthdays, Weddings, Retirements, A New Baby, Proposals and any other special occasions where you’re looking for a romantic and private location, tucked away from the world. Our Accommodation:
Kitchen
The Cuckoo's Retreat offers a luxurious, spacious and well equipped open plan kitchen with a 6 ring Smeg gas hob, double electric oven, an American style fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, sink, toaster, kettle, rice cooker, Tassimo coffee machine, filter coffee maker, toastie sandwich maker, rice cooker, tea towels, kitchen utensils, cooking equipment and kitchen cleaning products. We also provide you with tea bags, instant coffee and sugar. The open plan kitchen also has a sociable breakfast bar if you fancy a more chilled and relaxed space, many storage cupboards and a large luxurious quartz work surface for food preparation.
The kitchen is also stocked with tin foil, clingfilm, oil, salt, pepper and complimentary coffee pods.
Dining
Adjacent to the kitchen is a spacious dining area with seating for eight guests. The table has been hand made by the owner and artist Keryn, who prides herself on the personal touches and meticulous detail. On the wall there is a Smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Freeview.
Lounge
At the other end of the large open plan kitchen/diner is a cosy and spacious lounge with far reaching views of Truro Cathedral. The lounge includes luxury sofas which can accommodate up to 8 people, a central coffee table, smart 50” TV, large wood burner*, and bifold doors which fully open leading to a raised private south facing patio overlooking the secluded mature garden. To keep you cosy in the evenings we supply some complimentary logs in the log store. Should you wish for more logs we can supply these at an additional £8 per bag.
*Please only burn kiln dried logs in the woodburner. It is not a multi fuel so please do not use coal.
Master Bedroom with En-suite & Walk-in Wardrobe
Leading off from the kitchen is a luxurious master bedroom with a superking bed, bedside cabinets, dressing table with mirror, and patio doors with views of Truro Cathedral which lead out on the south facing private and secluded mature garden.
Note: Should you have a little one, we can also supply a travel cot and high chair, please do check this box when making your booking.. You would need to supply your own bedding.
Walk-In Wardrobe
Leading off from the bedroom there is a walk-in wardrobe, with plenty of storage, hangers, electric vortex fan, a safe, bath robes and a hairdryer.
En-Suite
Through the other door leading off the bedroom there a private ensuite bathroom with a generous walk-in shower, heated towel rail, makeup light, electric toothbrush charger, and plenty of storage. The ensuite is fully equipped with towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand cream, hand soap and cleaning products.
Private Patio, Garden, & Jacuzzi*
Your accommodation looks out onto your own private mature and very peaceful south-facing garden which is surrounded by a tall secure fence. The garden includes a patio, jacuzzi, gas BBQ and a dining table with seating up to eight people, beautiful mature plants and shrubs.
The house and garden has stunning views of Truro Cathedral, the viaduct (in the distance) and the surrounding countryside.
The jacuzzi can be used from 8am through to 11pm and children will need to be supervised at all times.
* Please note: there is a surcharge of 25% of your booking fee if you wish to hire the jacuzzi, so please do select this the you make your booking with us so we can prepare the jacuzzi for your arrival.
Parking
Parking is free and always available outside the property and there are no steps on the short walk down the footpath to the front gate.
Artwork
You will also notice bespoke patina artworks, clocks and home furnishings dotted around the Cuckoo's Retreat as the owner, Keryn Bibby, a local artist, has a home studio (All A Bit Cuckoo) where she creates collections inspired by the Cornish coast and travelling.
